Surgical Steel, Titanium, and Germanium: What's Actually in Your Element Core
We've written before about what's inside a Gaia Gems element core at a high level. This post goes one layer deeper into three specific materials that show up across our lines: surgical-grade steel, titanium, and germanium.
Surgical-Grade Stainless Steel
Every Gaia Gems band starts with a surgical-grade stainless steel foundation, the same category of steel used in medical implants and instruments for its durability and low reactivity. Practically, this means two things for you: it resists tarnish and corrosion far better than costume jewelry metals, and it's hypoallergenic — a meaningful detail if you've ever had a bracelet leave a green mark or irritate your skin.
Titanium
Titanium shows up across our titanium bracelet collection for a simple reason: it's remarkably strong for its weight. Titanium bands feel lighter on the wrist than steel of the same size while holding up to daily wear, which is part of why it's a common choice in both jewelry and sports equipment. Most of these sit in our 6X Power range.
Germanium
Germanium is one of the less familiar materials on this list. It's a metalloid element that's been incorporated into wellness-adjacent jewelry for years, often alongside magnets and negative-ion materials in multi-element designs. We include it in several of our stronger pieces, like the ones in our Thin Design collection, as part of the traditional material combination rather than as a stand-alone claim.
Neodymium Magnets
The magnetic component in nearly all of our bracelets comes from neodymium, a rare-earth magnet material known for being significantly stronger, size for size, than older ferrite magnets. It's the reason a slim band can still house a meaningful magnetic element without adding bulk. You'll find these across the magnetic therapy bracelet collection.
Putting It All Together
